NSF condemns assault in Manipur
The federation demanded that the authorities take immediate and decisive action to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the perpetrators involved.

Dimapur: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) on Tuesday condemned and expressed outrage over the recent incident of brutal physical assault, death threats, and extortion targeting two bona fide members of the Naga community from Nagaland in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.

In a release, the NSF said the two victims from Tseminyu district of Nagaland were engaged in legitimate livelihood activities.

The incident occurred in the early hours of March 23, between Keithelmanbi and Sapermeina in Kangpokpi district.

The federation demanded that the authorities take immediate and decisive action to identify, apprehend, and prosecute the perpetrators involved. It also called for concrete measures to ensure the safety and security of all civilians and to prevent the recurrence of such incidents in the future.

The NSF warned that failure on the part of the authorities to deliver justice and institute effective safeguards would compel it to initiate strong countermeasures in defense of the rights, dignity, and security of the Naga people.

Taking serious note of this disturbing pattern of recurring acts of intimidation and violence inflicted upon innocent Nagas, the federation said these repeated incidents reflect the persistent harassment faced by ordinary Naga citizens, particularly those who rely on daily trade and movement across regions for survival.

It reiterated that such acts of criminality will not be tolerated under any circumstances and that justice must be served appropriately.

The federation said it stands in solidarity with the victims of this heinous act and extended its unwavering support to the Rengma Students’ Union for its resolute stand in defending the rights and dignity of its members.
