The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) asked the students’ community of the state to check rampant corruption in claiming scholarships.
Federation president Ninoto Awomi and education secretary Kegwayhun Tep issued an advisory to the students on Monday after taking note of false claim of scholarships.

It advised the student community to check rampant practice of corruption by way of falsely claiming scholarship.
The federation said only eligible and financially needy students should avail the scholarship benefits. Any false claim by the student community amounts to corruption, it added.
The federation said it will launch an extensive campaign “No false claim on scholarship” across Nagaland. It invited positive response and cooperation from the student community towards achieving the mission and asked them to sign a pledge ‘‘No to Corruption”.

It asked the students and the administrations of various institutions to render their full cooperation for success of the campaign.
The federation directed every student to strictly adhere to the criteria laid down by the government in availing scholarships.
It asked those students whose parents’ income from all sources exceeds Rs 2.50 lakh per annum not to apply for the post-matric scholarship. It also directed the students not to produce false income affidavit to claim the scholarship benefits.
The federation further directed all its federating units to facilitate the financially needy and government school students in applying for the pre-matric scholarship scheme.
It said the common scholarship portal of the state government under uniform resource locator (URL) https://scholarship.nagaland.gov.in for the post-matric scholarship (ST), Nagaland Merit & Research Scholarship and NEC-Stipend & Book Grant for the academic session 2019-2020 is active from July 23 till September 30 and the pre-matric scholarship scheme (ST) for Scheduled Tribe students of class IX and X from August 1 till September 30.
