Dimapur: NSCN-IM general secretary and chief negotiator of the Indo-Naga peace talks Th. Muivah on Friday affirmed that they would not accept an imposed solution or remain silent in the face of a military solution.
In his address to the Naga people on the occasion of the 80th “Nagalim Independence Day” celebration at Camp Hebron, Muivah reiterated that an acceptable and honourable political agreement should be based on Nagalim’s unique history, respecting the letter and spirit of the August 3, 2015, Framework Agreement and duly recognising Nagalim’s national flag and constitution.
He also declared that Nagalim and the NSCN would defend and protect “Nagalim’s unique history”, “Nagalim’s sovereignty and freedom”, “Nagalim’s sovereign territory”, “Nagalim’s sovereign national flag” and “Nagalim’s sovereign national constitution” to the last, come what may.
He asserted that these non-negotiable national issues had been mandated by the Naga people and that they would stand by them to the last.
Muivah said anti-nationals and reactionaries could not claim the moral right to represent the Naga people or Nagalim politically, adding that factions born of rebellion, mutiny and vested interests had been created and nurtured by adversaries to destroy the Nagas from within.
“These forces, within and without, oppose and thwart the plan and purpose of God for Nagalim and must be warned against,” he stated.
Muivah thanked the Naga people, wherever they are, for their sacrifices, contributions and commitment to the cause of free Nagalim.
On the occasion, he also expressed gratitude to international communities and support groups, Indian civil society, individual sympathisers, Naga CSOs, churches and thousands of prayer warriors for their support for “our national struggle”.
Muivah appealed to them to continue supporting Nagalim, saying that the Nagas and Nagalim do not demand anything from anyone, but “we want everyone to respect Nagalim, our unique history and sovereignty.”
