Naga People’s Front (NPF) secretary and former president of BJP Minority Morcha Nagaland, Mukibur Rahman died of cardiac arrest at Referral Hospital in Dimapur on Friday.

He was also the vice president of Eastern Dimapur Business Association (EDBA).

Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, NPF president Shurhozelie Liezietsu, state BJP president Temjen Imna Along, NPF minority wing Central, Dimapur Namghar Trust Board and EDBA mourned his death.

Condoling his death, Patton said Rahman was a leader of the downtrodden and a compassionate human being who worked for the uplift of the weaker and minority section.

His good deeds will be remembered by the people, especially by those with whom he worked with, Patton stated.

In a condolence message, NPF president Liezietsu said Rahman was an honest and selfless party leader who worked to uplift the party. Liezietsu said his demise was a great loss to the party.

State BJP president Along described late Rahman as an enthusiastic social activist and a known figure among the minority community.

Along said he was a passionate social worker whose immense contributions to society were well noted.

The NPF minority wing central president, Bishnu Bhattacharjee, said termed Rahman as a vibrant, energetic, visionary gentleman.

In a condolence message, Bhattacharjee said Rahman was above party politics and added that he was a leader for the people and community.

The Dimapur Namghar Trust Board, in a condolence message, Rahman was at the heart of the Assamese society who held various responsibilities in the capacity of the convener of the Assamese Samaj of Dimapur.

His demise was an irreparable loss, it said.

Condoling Rahman’s death, the East Dimapur Business Association vice president, Azolo Nuh, asked business establishments in east Dimapur jurisdiction to down their shutters from 9 am to 12 pm today as a mark of respect during his funeral service.
