For ensuring timely delivery of goods and services to the people of Nagaland, Supply Chain Management (SCM) was launched by DK Gupta Director of Public Distribution, Ministry of Public distribution and Consumer Affairs, in the conference hall of Directorate of Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS) Dimapur on Wednesday.

During the launching programme, Gupta said that SCM is a powerful monitoring tool for tracking stock inventory starting from the godown to the fair price shops.

He also said that the application would make the beneficiaries aware about the availability of food grains.

Gupta congratulated the Directorate of Food and Civil supplies Director, Dimapur, Asangla Imti, NIC, Dimapur and all officials involved for developing the application.

Under the National Food Security Act, Nagaland has completed all the activities required for beneficiaries except FPS Automation.

He also said that as per a Supreme Court order, all beneficiaries availing subsidized food grains in Nagaland and across the country have to seed their ration cards with Aadhaar on or before March 31, 2019.

At present, Nagaland covers 2,84,934 ration cards with 1401378 beneficiaries.

DIO, NIC Dimapur Lipok said that Targeted Public Distribution System (TPDS) has been computerized with an application developed by NIC in order to meet the challenges of timely procurement and distribution of foodgrains.

Lipok also said that SCM will help in accquring accurate information on all storage facilities in the state and would help the department in making effective decision making.

It may be mentioned that a three member team led by D K Gupta, from the Ministry of Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Delhi, Kumaran from Central Project Management, Delhi and Sumit from NIC Delhi in collaboration with NIC Dimapur, successfully developed the SCM application.
