Dimapur: Kohima Deputy Commissioner B. Henok Buchem on Thursday announced a Rs 2 lakh scholarship fund for meritorious girl students under the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) programme, aimed at supporting girls’ education in the district.

Under the scheme, titled Educate Her, Empower Her, 20 girl students will receive a one-time scholarship of Rs 10,000 each.

The scholarship is open to permanent residents of Kohima district who passed the Class X or Class XII examinations in 2026 with at least 60 per cent marks.

According to a notification issued by the Deputy Commissioner, preference will be given to students from economically weaker families, orphan or single-parent households, and differently-abled candidates.

Applicants must submit a completed application form along with supporting documents, including mark sheets, Permanent Resident Certificate (PRC) or residential certificate, income certificate, Aadhaar card or other valid identity proof, and passport-size photographs.

To be eligible, the annual family income of the applicant must not exceed Rs 1.5 lakh.

Beneficiaries will be selected on the basis of academic merit, socio-economic background and verification by a district-level selection committee.

The last date for submission of applications is June 30.
