Nagaland: Hornbill festival witnesses over 60000 visitors for first two days

Over 60000 people have visited the Hornbill festival of Nagaland at Naga Heritage Village Kisama ever since its inauguration on Saturday, a state tourism official said on Sunday.

The village situated at a distance of 10 km from the capital city Kohima witnessed visitors from different parts of the country and from abroad too.

Assistant director of Tourism department, Nagaland, T Khakihe Sumi said that the state witnessed a total of 63032 visitors during two days of the festival.

He also said that that the inaugural day saw a footfall of 19,953 visitors and the figure rose to 43,079 on Sunday.

Among the total visitors, 780 were foreigners, 8241 were domestic tourists and 54,011 were local visitors.

North East Cultural Centre (NEZCC) organized a cultural programme as a part of  National Dance and Music Day at Kisama village in Nagaland on Sunday.

As a part of the cultural programme, cultural troupes from Odhisa, Assam, Manipur, Chattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Meghalaya and Jammu & Kashmir showcased different varieties of folk dances.

Odhisa representing East Zonal Cultural Centre performed Dalkhai Dance, a cultural troupe from Assam performed Gumrag dance, Madhya Pradesh representing South Central Cultural Zone made energetic performance on Baredi dance and Manipur performed skillful Hang-ta dance.

Different Naga tribes also performed their traditional dances.
