Dimapur: Nagaland Governor Nand Kishore Yadav reviewed the functioning of the Nagaland Public Service Commission (NPSC) at Lok Bhavan in Kohima on Tuesday, with the commission highlighting plans to strengthen its examination system, expand digital processes and address growing infrastructure requirements.
NPSC officials briefed the Governor on the commission’s history, organisational structure, manpower position and functioning, besides its examination activities, departmental promotion committee meetings, ongoing initiatives, achievements, challenges and future plans.
The commission outlined revisions to the syllabi and examination patterns for the Nagaland Civil Service (NCS), Nagaland Police Service (NPS) and allied services, aimed at aligning the examinations with evolving standards and strengthening assessment of candidates’ analytical ability, general awareness and administrative aptitude.
It also presented the revised syllabus and examination pattern for the Combined Technical Services Examination and plans to introduce a three-tier examination system for the service.
The NPSC further highlighted its adoption of technology and digital processes. It said the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology had awarded it a certificate of appreciation for integrating recruitment portals with DigiLocker.
According to the commission, Nagaland became the first state in the Northeast and the third state in India to implement both DigiLocker and eSign models.
The NPSC said the move was aimed at advancing paperless processes and strengthening digital public service infrastructure.
The commission also flagged challenges arising from the growing number of candidates appearing for examinations, including a shortage of suitable examination centres. It sought additional manpower and larger examination facilities to meet the increasing requirements.
Among its planned measures, the NPSC proposed online submission of departmental requisitions and construction of an examination hall at its complex.
