This statement from the Nagaland chief minister comes just a day after India celebrated its 75th Independence Day.
Earlier, Nagaland Governor RN Ravi in his speech on the eve of Independence Day had said that “Nagaland has been and shall ever remain an integral part of India”.
RN Ravi said that the role of Naga leaders was important in the constitutional evolution of India.
“In the unfolding epochal story of India’s resurgence, Nagaland cannot be left behind,” he stated.
Ravi added: “Independence of India is the outcome of blood, sweat and sacrifices of millions of Indians who resisted the British rule and paid their ultimate sacrifice while doing so.”
He said that the British created “false narrative of perpetual conflict and warfare between the people of Naga Hills and Plains”.
