Meanwhile, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) on Tuesday said the state will experience heavy to extremely severe rainfall till July 8.

In its weather update, the NSDMA said during this period, extremely heavy rainfall is expected in the districts of Kohima, Phek, Wokha, Zunheboto, Kiphire, Noklak, Shamator and Tuensang.

The district-wise weather warning showed that Kiphire, Phek, Noklak, Shamator and Tuensang districts are likely to experience the most rain among the districts in Nagaland.

For these five districts, an orange colour alert has been issued from July 2 to July 4.

Due to the likelihood of excessive precipitation in the hill sector, Nagaland’s lowland and foothill regions, including Dimapur, Niuland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli, are likely to be impacted by inundated water logging and flash floods.

All the major rivers of the State will experience a surge in water level, the NSDMA said.

It asked all the district disaster management authorities and other line departments to be on alert to save lives and properties during this monsoon period.
