In a major embarrassment to Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio, a public rally at Tuensang had to be cancelled on Friday after hardly 100 people turning up at the venue.
According to reports, the helicopter carrying the Chief Minister reached the spot but had to make a beating retreat around an hour later without holding the rally because of shamelessly poor attendance.
The party organizers had expected a crowd of around 3,000 to turn up for the rally where Rio was expected to address as part of the election campaign.
According to sources, food for as many people was also arranged for a feast.
Though later, the NDPP party sources in afce saving act claimed that around 500 people had attended the rally, but local sources claim that the actual number will be around 100.
