Dimapur: In view of the onset of the monsoon season and the increased risk of rockfalls and landslides, Nagaland’s Chumoukedima district administration has issued a public advisory for commuters travelling along the NH-29 stretch from Chathe Bridge (Unity Gate) to Tsiedukhruโ€“Khuokhi Bridge (Kukidolong), urging them to drive with utmost caution, especially during heavy rain and at night.

The advisory, issued by Deputy Commissioner Polan John on Wednesday, urged road users to exercise extreme caution, particularly during periods of heavy rainfall and at night, when the risk of landslides and falling rocks is higher.

It asked commuters to follow traffic diversions and strictly adhere to instructions issued by authorities at the site.

The advisory also stated that the left-hand side (LHS) carriageway of the four-lane highway may be temporarily closed to traffic without prior notice whenever necessary.

The administration also urged the public not to circulate or rely on unverified information regarding road conditions or incidents and instead follow official updates issued by the competent authorities.

The district administration appealed to all commuters and road users to cooperate with the authorities and follow safety measures in the interest of public safety.
