Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha on Wednesday has asked all the departments of the state to withdraw any vehicle attached to ministers, parliamentary secretaries, advisers and other political leaders immediately because of the Model Code of Conduct which has come into force from January 18.

Addressing the meeting of the AHODs and HODs at the Secretariat Conference Hall in Kohima, Sinha clarified that the ministers, parliamentary secretaries, advisers etc. would be entitled to use only the official vehicles allotted by the Transport Department during the period for performance of their official duties which also should not be used for electioneering purposes.

Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer said failure on the part of the concerned to return the vehicles should be brought to his notice for necessary action.

He also dwelt at length on the do’s and don’ts of the Model Code of Conduct for government servants.

Meanwhile, the Department of Health & Family Welfare has notified that all public health facilities of the Department are empanelled for providing cashless treatment to polling personnel as well as the CAPF personnel.

In an order on Wednesday, the department directed the personnel working in public health facilities to make arrangements for providing cashless treatment to the polling personnel during the poll and personnel of CAPF from the time they are inducted into the state for election duties till the de-induction (release from election duty) and to ensure provision of good quality treatment as well as cater to any kind of medical emergencies.

For issues arising out of any dereliction of duty, the concerned staff shall be held responsible, the department warned.
