Dimapur: After assessing the post-disaster needs in Nagaland’s Mon and Tuensang districts on Tuesday, the central post-disaster needs assessment team from the MHA, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM) and Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) visited Longleng on Wednesday to assess the post-disaster needs in the district.

At a meeting with all line departments under the Longleng District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) at the Longleng District Planning and Development Board hall, the central team asked the departments to properly document the actual damage and losses to facilitate accurate assessment and effective post-disaster planning.

Longleng DC and DDMA chairman W Manpai Phom briefed the team on the damage caused during the monsoon season.

The PWD (R&B) and agri-allied departments presented the assessment report of roads and fields damaged in the district through a PowerPoint presentation.

On behalf of civil society, Phom Peopleโ€™s Council chairman YB Angam Phom shared the difficulties faced by the district.

The central team included Mickey Mecon Dalbehera, scientist E, CBRI Roorkee; Rohit Kumar, assistant professor, NIDM; Indranil Bose, senior consultant (infrastructure section); Shashank Mishra, lead consultant, NIDM; Gagandeep Singh, assistant professor, NIDM; CP Mohan, senior consultant (productive section); and Chandani PC Senan, senior consultant, NDMA.

L Jonhibemo Odyuo, assistant manager (relief, recovery & mitigation), Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority, accompanied the central team.
