Dimapur: The Nagaland unit of BJP organised a state-level workshop on “Sadasyata Abhiyan-membership drive” at Lions Club here on Wednesday, aiming to increase party members in the state from the existing number of around two lakh.
Lok Sabha MP from Assam and BJP national secretary Kamakhaya Prasad Tasa, state BJP leaders, including the home minister and BJP Legislature Party leader in the state assembly Y Patton, state president Benjamin Yepthomi, other ministers and advisers of BJP besides party members attended the day-long workshop.
Delivering the keynote address as the special guest, Tasa exhorted the party workers to make Nagaland a model state and the BJP a model party.
He called for reaching out to all sections of people and convince them to join the BJP which works for their development and the nation.
Tasa felt that the membership drive should not be a challenge in Nagaland as the party already has around two lakh members.
Underling the need for human resource development and maintaining good relationship with people, Tasa said the membership is the base of a political party.
He hoped that the workshop would help the party raise its members.
The MP also explained the procedure in detail on how to become a BJP member.
He said BJP earned a unique feat with five of its legislators being cabinet ministers in the state.
“This was possible because of the large number of members the BJP has in the state,” he added.
Further, Tasa asked the state BJP to invite him to any programme of the party for any guidance and help.
In his address, PHE minister Jacob Zhimomi called for making the BJP the number one political party in the state while also saying that the party has nothing against any party.
Delivering the welcome address, Rajya Sabha MP and state vice president Phangnon Konyak said it is a privilege to be a member of the world’s largest political party.
She urged the party members to put a few hours into the nation-building process to make India a developed nation.
