The Nagaland Assembly has declared the Shamator-Chessore Assembly constituency in Tuensang district as vacant with effect from July 3, said an official.
The Assembly declared the seat vacant following the death of sitting MLA Toshi Wungtung.
Wungtung, who was also the adviser to Information and Public Relations, SCERT, passed away in New Delhi on July 1.
Nagaland Assembly Speaker and chairman of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) Sharingain Longkumer convened a meeting of the BAC on July 23 to finalise the provisional programme for the eighth session of the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
He has requested all members of the BAC to attend the meeting.
