Dimapur: Assam Rifles on Friday handed over 18.8 acres of land, presently under the occupation of the Assam Rifles Training Centre and School (ARTC&S), 3rd Mile, Nagalandโs Chumoukedima, to the Airports Authority of India (AAI) for the Phase-I expansion of Dimapur airport.
The land was handed over during a joint handing-over and taking-over programme at Dimapur airport.
The event was attended by Moa Pongen, Airport Director, AAI, Dimapur airport; Col KD Sharma, Commanding Officer, No. 2 Bn, ARTC&S; Sentiwapang Aier, Secretary (Airports, Inland Waterways, and Railways Cell), Nagaland Transport Department; Polan John, Deputy Commissioner, Chumoukedima; M Ababe Ezung, OSD, Nagaland Transport Department; along with other officials.
Before the formal handing-over and taking-over ceremony, officials inspected the identified area at ARTC&S.
The issue relating to the transfer of the remaining areas, presently under the occupation of ARTC&S, for Phase-II expansion of Dimapur airport was also discussed during the programme.
It was stated that further directives from the appropriate authorities would be required for the transfer of the remaining areas for Phase-II development works.
