Dimapur: Several commercial establishments at Series Colony in Nagaland’s Kohima were damaged in a fire on Monday, an Assam Rifles release said.
However, no loss of life or serious injuries was reported in the incident.
The exact cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained.
On receiving information, Assam Rifles personnel responded promptly and deployed a water bowser along with adequate manpower to the site.
The personnel worked in close coordination with local fire services and the civil administration, providing critical support in the firefighting operations.
Due to the timely availability of water and effective manpower assistance, the fire was quickly brought under control and prevented from spreading to nearby residential houses and other establishments. Cooling operations were also carried out to rule out any possibility of re-ignition.
As a precautionary measure, affected shop owners and nearby residents were safely evacuated, and the area was secured to ensure public safety and smooth movement.
Meanwhile, the district administration has appealed to the public to adhere to fire safety norms and report emergencies promptly.
