Dimapur: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio on Monday said the state has remained one of the most peaceful in the country over the past several years, citing a stable law and order situation and the absence of major security concerns.
Delivering his Republic Day address at the Nagaland Civil Secretariat Plaza in Kohima, Rio said the latest Crime in India 2023 report released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has ranked Nagaland among the safest states in the country.
He attributed the sustained peace to proactive policing and continued efforts by the state police to strengthen enforcement capabilities and maintain public safety.
The chief minister said the police have enhanced their response to emerging and new-age crimes by developing a robust cybercrime framework, actively leveraging national cyber platforms, and intensifying action against financial and online offences.
Rio also highlighted the policeโs sustained crackdown on narcotics, stating that a vigorous campaign has been launched to dismantle drug trafficking networks operating in the state.
Over the past year, the Nagaland Police seized 230 kg of NDPS substances and nearly one lakh units of synthetic drugs. A total of 135 NDPS cases were registered, leading to the arrest of 218 persons, reflecting the governmentโs firm resolve to curb drug trafficking and protect communities from drug-related harm.
Reaffirming the governmentโs development agenda, Rio said Nagaland is committed to making concerted efforts across all sectors to achieve the national vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, in line with progress being pursued by other states across the country.
