Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee president K Therie on Tuesday condemned Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “corrupt no. 1” taunt at Rajiv Gandhi as “utter madness”.

Therie told this correspondent that PM Modi made one of the “most painful remarks” and an “unfounded allegations” against the late Prime Minister 28 years after his assassination at an election rally in Uttar Pradesh, to win votes.

“It is very shocking. We cannot forgive him,” Therie said.

The PPC chief also issued a released on Tuesday, condemning Modi’s remark. He said there is no record that Rajiv Gandhi was convicted by any court of law for corruption.

“Dragging Rajiv Gandhi‘s name whose life was shortened abruptly at his prime age is most painful,” Therie said.

He said history will not forgive Modi for his lies. “For us, Rajiv Gandhi is a National Martyr and we respect his sacrifice. He was a great, brave and solid rock son of the soil. We miss him,” the PCC president said.

Calling the BJP an “opportunist party”, he said the party denies the achievements of the Congress party in 60 years but “shamelessly enjoys the fruits”.

Therie alleged that Modi’s five-year rule has made no achievements to fight the elections.

He said Modi is now attacking the 60 years of Congress’s rule and even late Rajiv Gandhi for whom the people of the country are enjoying the digital India today.

He said late Rajiv Gandhi has taken India forward to the global village of civilisation.

“We owe all that we have today to the pioneers and founding fathers of Congress. We are second to none in the world not because of BJP,” Therie said.

According to the PCC chief, Modi will go down the annals of history as the “tallest liar” as all his promises were “lies”.

Therie supported Congress president Rahul Gandhi’s statement that that Modi’s “karma” awaits him on May 23.
