Evolve Fitness Studio of State College of Teacher Education (SCET) and certificate course in physical education under vocationalisation of higher education were launched at SCET, Kohima on Wednesday.

“Every hard work that goes into must have its returns,” said Director of Higher Education, Nagaland, Kuholi Chishi at the inaugural programme. She congratulated the SCET for coming up with such a noble idea of fitness studio and stated that the progress and development which has come through Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA), a first of its kind in taking a project on physical education, is a different choice and well chosen.

Chishi underscored that one needs to be fit and added that teachers definitely need fitness. She encouraged the principal, faculty, staff and students to love what they do and take up this initiative very passionately to expand and let it grow from strength to strength. She further said the good thing about the project is that it can generate its own income and even outsource it.

Noting that the Nagas in general are not good stewards, the director urged upon all that as educated people we must learn to be good stewards of what we receive from the authorities above us and take care of the facilities, buildings and equipments. She added that since the Ministry of Human Resource Department has funded the project it will be painful to see if the facilities are not taken care of or misuses. She requested the SCET fraternity to ensure that the facilities, equipment are made use of and maintained properly.

The State Project Director, RUSA, Menuokholie Kire, said the project is a Rashtra flagship programme of Government of India, which was inducted in 2014 in Nagaland and is covering 15 government colleges, including the ongoing project in Wakching, which is basically for the science stream hostel.

He appealed to the students to change their mind set of destroying government property and take care of the facilities which have been provided by the government and make the best use of this course. He further urged the faculty, staff and students to generate the resource that is given to them.
