In a first of its kind programme in the history of Raj Bhavan Kohima, children from various orphanages from all across Nagaland would be hosted at the Raj Bhavan from October 5 to 9.
According to a Raj Bhavan statement, the programme is being initiated by the Governor of Nagaland, P B Acharya and his wife, Kavita Acharya.
The children along with their coordinators and caretakers from far off districts would be staying at Raj Bhavan during their visit to the state capital.
Highlights of the programme include interaction, games, cultural programmes, magic show etc.
There are around 56 child care homes with around 586 children in the State with Dimapur district having the highest number of orphanges.
Governor Acharya has opined that such outreach programmes must be initiated and the people must play their role in ‘citizen social responsibility’ to make positive change in the society.
