Ahead of the ensuing Assembly elections in Nagaland, Naga People’s Front (NPF) president, Dr Shürhozelie Liezietsu made an emotional statement saying the day is not far when the Naga people will lose their ethnic identity if they do not realize what ‘force is penetrating into their land’.

“This election is not just a fight between different political parties to form next government, but a bigger fight between outside forces and the force of the Naga people,” Dr Shürhozelie said.

He said this while addressing an election rally at Tseminyu town the sub-divisional headquarter in Kohima district. It includes several villages including Tseminyu, a centre of the Rengmas.

He warned that some leaders have become slaves to money power thereby compromising the very ethnic identity of the Nagas.

While admitting that the NPF led government witnessed the biggest ever crisis in the political history of the State, Dr Shürhozelie asserted that only 17 out of the 48 MLAs have been allotted party tickets.

Dr Shürhozelie also stated that many political parties have mentioned tall promises to lure voters in their poll manifestoes, but only his party has genuine concern for the uplift of the Nagas.

He further claimed that NPF is the only party that represent the identity and ethos of the Naga people.

He urged the Rengma community to elect their leader wisely so that they do not have to regret later.
