The Nagaland government has ordered the closure of schools, including residential schools, for students of class I-VIII in view of the spike in the number of COVID-19 cases.

Nagaland chief secretary J Alam in a notification ordered the closure of schools for all kindergarten /pre-primary classes in the state, with immediate effect.

The order stated that Nagaland schools may continue to impart online mode for all classes and carry out other activities with strict adherence to COVID-19 protocols and other necessary measures.

The conduct of regular classes for students of class IX-XII will continue subject to strict adherence to all SOPs.

He said that the ongoing High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations will continue with strict adherence to the provisions of the SOPs to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

In this regard, he said that the order of re-opening of schools for classes I-V stand superseded and the order of re-opening of schools for Class VI and above (including residential schools) stand partially modified.
