Coronavirus: 1314 people placed under home quarantine in Nagaland

A total of 1314 people in Nagaland are under home quarantine while 25 others are at quarantine facilities in the state.

In his statement on Covid-19 situation in the state, principal secretary (home) Abhijit Sinha said as at 5pm on Wednesday, a total of 65 samples of suspected cases were sent for testing.

The results of 61 samples have been received and they are negative. The results of four samples are awaited.

He said 5126 people have signed up in the Covid-19 Nagaland App, where 3616 persons have self-declared their details, till now.

He appealed to all those who have entered the state after March 6 to self-register in the App with their full details.

Sinha said relief camps and shelters have been set up by the Dimapur district administration for more than 350 stranded migrant labourers and more than 8,000 daily wagers and other needy people during the lockdown.

They are being provided food by the district Administration and several civil society organisations.

As per reports from the districts, availability of food grains, medicines, petrol, oil and lubricants and other essential goods and commodities continues to be normal, he said.

Sinha acknowledged the continued cooperation extended to the government by everyone.

Health and family welfare minister S. Pangnyuh Phom on Wednesday asked the health and family welfare department to resume the construction work of the medical college in Kohima from Thursday.

He asked the department to come up with a system to manage the labourers and obtain special permission from the district administration in order to purchase essential materials for the ongoing construction.

He also discussed about strengthening of doctors in district level for temporary adjustments and allocations of manpower.

Phom was reviewing the Covid-19 situation at the health and family welfare department’s principal director in Kohima.

He asked the officials present to focus more on the areas bordering other states as they are very vulnerable at this stage and implement quarantine measures more strictly in these areas.

Principal director Dr Vizolie Z. Soukhrie said it is necessary to wait for two more weeks before resuming daily activities.
