Union Minister of State for Communication Devusinh Chauhan on Saturday said the government is exploring new technologies and innovations to improve telecommunication services in the Northeast states.
Admitting that the department is facing challenges in providing telecommunication service in the region, Chauhan said Nagaland is a shining example in terms of Teledensity, which is highest among the northeastern states.

He was speaking at a meeting with the officials of the state government and departments of Telecommunication and Posts at Chumukedima police complex here.
Chauhan said there is no dearth of funds for the improvement of the telecom sector. He assured that there will be increased coverage of telecommunication network connectivity as well as increased funds for further improvement.
The minister said there is no sector that has not been affected by the pandemic, forcing every sector to start online means for its operation.

Appreciating the visit of the Union minister, Nagaland adviser for information technology and communication Mmhonlumo Kikon said coming of a lot of Union ministers to the state shows that the policy-making is not just left to the Centre.
“An active interaction and communication between the Centre and the state enable the facilitation of opinion, needs, assessment to be done at the personal level,” he noted.
Stressing the need for more bandwidth in Nagaland, Kikon said telecom activity has become the most critical infrastructure for providing transparency speed in governance, development, security and the only means to overcome the geo-climatic obstacles to communication in the state.
Kikon said the people have witnessed the paradigm shift in the way they work due the lockdowns.
“Under the circumstances, there is a growing need for more bandwidth and more connectivity to support the online activities,” he stated.
Highlighting the special challenges faced by the state in terms of infrastructure and also the need for solution to connectivity problem, Kokon said there is extraordinary potential of human resources in the state, adding in order to tap and convert it into livelihood, the primary concern and need is the access to network and improvement of bandwidth.
