Central team assesses damages during recent rain in Nagaland

A five-member central team arrived in Dimapur of Nagaland on Tuesday to assess the damages caused by the incessant rain recently across the State.

According to an official bulletin, the team visited Niuland sub-division and interacted with the affected farmers of Niuland and bordering villages.

During the interaction, the farmers narrated the extent of crop damaged in rain and landslides.

The team also visited Yeveto village to take stock of the ground reality of the damages caused to plantation and crops due to the change of river course.

On the way to Niuland, the team stopped by at Balijan Bridge that has been completely washed away in recent flood.

The team comprised of Joint Secretary (FFR) MHA, K B Singh (team leader);  Director in charge, Department of Agriculture and Cooperation, Kolkata, Dr K Manohoran; Consultant FCD, Department of Expenditure New Delhi, R B Kaul; Anirban Acharya from the Ministry of Road and Transport and Highway, Guwahati and Chahat Singh from the Department of Rural Development, New Delhi.

Later in the evening, the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Dimapur, Sushil Kumar Patel, while briefing the central team members, highlighted the extent of damages under Dimapur district.

On Wednesday, the team would proceed to Ralan and Bhandari areas under Wokha district to assess the damages caused after which they would proceed to Wokha and have a short meeting.

Later, the team would be proceeding towards Kohima and take stock of the major landslides in and around Kohima district.
