All India Congress Committee (AICC) observer for Nagaland Assembly elections Gaurav Gogoi on Monday accused the BJP of working against church’s call for clean election in the state. He said the party cannot provide a clean government with its divisive ideology.

Gogoi said the people of Nagaland have heard the message of the church and hoped they will vote for a clean and stable government.

Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan here on Monday, he alleged the BJP is trying to enter Nagaland through Nationalist Democratic Progressive  Party (NDPP) via backdoor that does not augur well for the state.

He alleged the BJP does not understand the beautiful diverse culture of Nagaland and is selling false promises to the people of the state which will remain unfulfilled.

According to the Lok Sabha MP from Assam, the people of Nagaland are not happy with the entry of BJP-NDPP combine into the state as the BJP is a party of “lies” and it has never fulfilled its promises given to the people. He went on to say that the BJP can never provide a clean government in Nagaland with its divisive ideologies and by spending “corporate donations” on state elections.

Maintaining that the BJP is good at marketing, Gaurav said the saffron party has been lying to the people of Nagaland and the entire country since 2014. He held the BJP responsible for multi-crore Punjab National Bank scam while questioning it about the promises, including providing two crore  jobs every year, it made to the people of India.

He said the BJP wants only the lotus to bloom by playing the divisive Hindutva card and added that the people of other states where the party has formed governments are already paying the price. The Congress observer was also critical of BJP leader Ram Madhav’s statement of BJP-RSS respecting the Christian values.

Gaurav exuded confidence that the Congress party will have a major role in formation of next government in Nagaland, as the party is active in all the 60 constituencies of the state.

Though the Congress has put up candidates only in 18 constituencies, Gaurav said the party is utilizing its members at the grassroots level in each and every constituency to form a stable and secular government.

He added the Congress’ strategy is door-to-door, house-to-house, village-to-village campaign to share the party’s vision for Nagaland.

APCC Mahila president Shanaz Haque, NPCC secretary Rajesh Sethi, NPCC Minority Cell chairman Ahidur Rahman, NPYC president Vilhousielie Kengruse and K Ingti, ex-MLA from Karbi Anglong were also present on the occasion.
