Five militants belonging to the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) have surrendered before the security forces at Longding in Arunachal Pradesh.

Of the five surrendered militants, two rebels belonged to Isak-Muivah (IM) faction while three belonged to the Khaplang faction of the proscribed outfit.
The surrendered militants have been identified as Wangchen Wangsa (45) and Aaom Wangsu (24) of NSCN (IM) and Chapha Panda (30), Jewang Wangsa (47) and Chaibo Panda (33) of NSCN (K).
Security forces have managed to bring the five NSCN militants to surrender after months of relentless pursuit and concerted efforts said, an Indian Army official.

The cadres surrendered before a joint team of Arunachal Pradesh Police and Assam Rifles.
Longding SP Vikram Harimohan Meena and Deputy SP Banghang Tangjang were present when the militants laid down their arms.
The surrendered cadres were engaged in extortion and collection of taxes, said the official.
