A day before the counting of votes, re-polling in 12 polling stations and fresh poll at Ladaigarh polling station in Nagaland on Friday passed off peacefully, recording 73.05 percent voter turnout. Polling started at 7 am and ended at 3 pm. Counting of votes will take place on March 3 from 8 am.

Re-polling at Upper AG Colony under 9th Kohima Town Assembly constituency, held under tight security, recorded 68.66% polling with around 664 voters casting their votes out of a total of 967.

Live casting of votes was done with additional CCTVs installed for monitoring the electioneering process. The village council members and volunteers took active part in peaceful conduct of re-poll.

In polling station No. 7/15 Samziuram ‘A’ Sector under 7th Peren Assembly constituency, 71.70 percent of voters turned up to exercise their franchise.

Detailed reports from the far-flung polling stations of the state where re-polling was held, are awaited. Report from Ladaigarh polling station, where fresh poll was held, was not received so far.

Meanwhile, apprehending serious law and order situation during the counting of votes in Zunheboto town on Saturday, the Zunheboto district administration has promulgated Section 144 CrPC in the town prohibiting the assembly of five or more persons in the town with immediate effect.

Zuheboto DC and District Magistrate Tridibesh Roy, in an order, on Friday said no individuals are allowed to move out with any kind of arms or lethal weapons.

All personnel deployed on election duty including the polling officials, security personnel, observers, micro observers, medical personnel, PHED and Power Department staff on duty, fire and emergencies and staff of the district administration have been exempted from the purview of the prohibition.

Counting of votes for all the five constituencies under Dimapur district will be held at Dimapur DC Office.
