The Commandant of 44 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung in Nagaland has donated an amount of Rs 31,000 to Nagaland CM’s Relief Fund on Monday on behalf of his battalion.
Informing about this on his Twitter handle on Monday, Sachin Jaiswal, the Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Mokokchung district in Nagaland, stated: “The CO 44 Assam Rifles, Mokokchung has graciously donated Rs. 31000 to Nagaland CM’s Relief Fund today on behalf of his battalion.”
Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio has thanked the Commandant of 44 Assam Rifles for contributing to the CM’s Relief Fund.
Chief Minister Rio tweeted on Monday: “Thank you CO 44 Assam Rifles Mokokchung, for your contribution.”
Along with other organisations, different battalions of Assam Rifles also donate to the Chief Minister’s relief Fund from time to time.
In July this year, the Zunheboto Battalion of Assam Rifles under the aegis of HQ IGAR (North), on behalf of all ranks of the unit, handed over Rs 1 lakh to the Deputy Commissioner, Zunheboto as a contribution to the Nagaland Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF).
The contribution was made by the Assam Rifles with an aim at helping the relief and rehabilitation work in the flood and landslide affected areas of Nagaland.
In the first week of August, Nagaland Governor, PB Acharya, announced to contribute Rs one lakh from his salary towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in aid of the people affected by incessant rainfalls for the last few weeks that resulting in major natural disaster.
Governor Acharya had also appealed to all the citizens of the State to donate generously towards the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund.
Acharya appealed to the people of the State to stand in solidarity with the distressed and affected people and be part of the effort to support them during the hour of crisis following massive flood and landslides.
