A 15-member delegation of working committee of six Naga National Political Groups (NNPGs) led by its convenor N Kitovi Zhimomi held second round of talks with the Government of India’s Interlocutor for Naga talks RN Ravi in New Delhi on Wednesday.

Sources said the Working Committee tabled their agendas at the meeting which was still going on at the time of filing this report. No further details could be obtained.

The 15-member delegation include co-conveners- FGN kedallo, Zhopra Vero; secretary NNC (parent body), V. Nagi; NPGN/NNC (NA) ato kilonser, Hozheto; president NSCN (R), Wangtin Naga; NNC/GDRN (NA) president, Kiumukam Yimchungru and GPRN/NSCN envoy, Alezo Venuh.

The Government of India and the working committee of the six Naga groups officially began political dialogue on September 27. The maiden round of talks was held in New Delhi, where Ravi, the Centre’s interlocutor, met an 18-member delegation of the Working Committee led by its convener Zhimomi.

A press note from the media cell of the working committee after the first meeting informed that Ravi welcomed the delegates and pointed out that the “moment was a historic one for both the Government of India and the Nagas as the effort was aimed towards resolving a seventy year old political problem through dialogue.”

On December 9, the working committee held a consultative meeting with apex Naga civil society organisations to seek their views and suggestions here.

The working committee had expressed profound gratitude to all the civil society leaders and well wishers who made their presence felt by freely expressing their views and opinions on the ongoing political dialogue between the Government of India and the NNPGs at the consultative meeting.

“All important suggestions and historical references made by the esteemed members have been duly noted,” it said in a statement.

The NNPG Working Committee (WC) meeting with apex Naga civil societies on December 9 has urged the Government of India to suspend the ensuing Legislative Assembly Elections in Nagaland, to allow the negotiators and the Naga people to focus solely on delivering a solution that is acceptable, honourable and enduring to both the GOI and the Nagas.
