Nagaland defeated Sikkim by 201 runs, in the first match of BCCI Under-23 one day match tournament for North East and Bihar Zone. The match was played at Patna.
After losing the toss, Nagaland team was put to bat where they scored 279 losing 4 wickets in 38 overs. The match was reduced to 38 overs due to bad weather.
Nagaland opening pair Sedezalie Rupreo (124 not out) and Puchu Deb (65 runs) gave a good opening partnership of 112 runs. Hemant also scored 30 runs while Ravi contributed 26 runs to the total.
For Sikkim, Rhonak, Saptula, Afzar and Sandeep claimed a wicket each.
Sikkim was bowled out for 78 runs. Yogesh (12 runs), Akash and Prasant 11 runs each were the only batsmen who scored double digits.
Tahmeed claimed 4 wickets while Nagaho and Nadeem took 2 wickets each for Nagaland.
Sedezalie, Puchu and Tahmeed have been regularly representing Nagaland in U-14, U-16, U-19 teams and now U-23. In the next match, Nagaland will play Meghalaya at Urja Stadium, Patna.
