Nagaland Assembly Speaker Dr Imtiwapang Aier has accepted the resignation tendered by former Home Minister Y Patton from the membership of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly with effect from Thursday.
Commissioner & Secretary, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, N Benjamin Newmai informed all concerned and the general public that under Article 190 clause 3(b) of the Indian Constitution read with Rule 180 clause (1) (2) of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business in Nagaland Legislative Assembly the Speaker has accepted the resignation of Patton.

Consequent upon the resignation, the Speaker vide notification no: AS/LEG-23/2014 has declared the seat under 37-Tyui Assembly Constituency vacant with effect from January 11.
Patton, has reportedly submitted his resignation as a member of the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) on Wednesday.
A copy of Patton’s resignation letter addressed to the speaker was widely circulated on social media. He claimed to be ‘voluntarily tendering’ his resignation ‘with immediate effect’ from January 9, 2018.
