Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) president Amit Shah and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh among other BJP leaders will campaign for the party candidates in the ensuing Nagaland Assembly elections.
According to BJP central office in New Delhi on Tuesday, the list of 40 party leaders to campaign for Nagaland elections among others includes BJP national president Amit Shah, Union Ministers Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitely, Union Road Transport & Highways, Shipping and Water Resources Minister Nitin Gadkari and Union External Affairs Sushma Swaraj.

The other Union Ministers who will also campaign for party candidates in Nagaland are Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, Union Defence Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Union Information and Broadcasting and Textiles Minister Smriti Irani and Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain.
Apart from the Union Ministers, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and Assam Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also the convenor of the Northeast Democratic Alliance (NEDA) have also featured in the list of campaigners for the party candidates in Nagaland.
However, the dates of their campaign have not been mentioned in the list.

The BJP has forged a pre-poll alliance with newly-formed Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) led by former Nagaland Chief Minister and Lok Sabha MP Neiphiu Rio.
According to the arrangement, the BJP will contest in 20 seats while NDPP in 40 seats in the 60-member Nagaland House.
Meanwhile, the Nagaland Pradesh Committee (NPCC) has released a list of 23 candidates while National People’s Party (NPP) announced its list of 28 candidates to contest the State Assembly elections on Tuesday evening. Their candidates will file nominations on Wednesday.
