Nagaland pianist Chatavi Vupru won the Con Brio 2019, a prestigious piano competition in Mumbai on Monday.
The 19-year-old resident of Kuda village of Dimapur won a cash award of Rs 3,00,000 in the tenth edition of Con Brio that was held in National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) Experimental Theatre in Mumbai.
The participants who got the second and third positions in the piano competition bagged cash awards of Rs 1,00,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively.
Moreover, the other participants of Con Brio 2019 were also awarded Rs 25,000.
Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio congratulated Vupru for his remarkable achievement.

The tenth edition of Con Brio was held from Thursday to Sunday.
This year, the piano competition was organized in honour of the two hundredth birth centenary of eminent German pianist Clara Schumann.
The tenth edition of Con Brio with the theme ‘More Schumania: Celebrating Women With Clara’ was celebrated as an ode to the finest women composers of the world.
The participants of Con Brio also perform on the works of female pianists in accordance with the theme.
Con Brio is an annual competition that aims to provide a strong incentive to young Indian pianists to aim for high standards of pianism.
The festival aims to promote strong relationships among western classical musicians.
