Lt. Gen Rajeev Sirohi has taken over charge as the new General Officer Commanding (GOC) of 3 Corps, Rangapahar Army Cantonment at Dimapur in Nagaland, from Lt Gen Gopal R.
Lt. Gen Gopal R., who has been transferred to Army headquarters in New Delhi, handed over the Command of 3 Corps to his successor on Thursday, a defence release said.
The 3 Corps covers whole of Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Manipur and parts of Arunachal Pradesh and Assam.
The new GOC of 3 Corps, Lt. Gen Sirohi is an Infantry officer from the Grenadier Regiment of the Indian Army.
His services in the Army so far included several prestigious staff assignments in Military Operations Directorate with command tenures mainly along the borders and in counter-terrorism operations. He commanded an Infantry Brigade in J&K and an Infantry Division in the Northeast.
He attended the joint national level meeting in Myanmar and led the Indian Army for Victory Day celebrations in Bangladesh.
The Lt. General also has extensive international exposure having served in two United Nations missions as well as two international courses abroad, informed defence sources.
