Mmhonlumo Kikon of BJP was administered oath of office as Pro-tem Speaker of Nagaland Assembly by Governor PB Acharya at Raj Bhavan in Kohima on Friday.
The 1st Budget session of 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will commence from March 12.
Meanwhile, former Nagaland Speaker and senior NPF leader Chotisuh Sazo felt Neiphiu Rio will be a BJP remote controlled Chief Minister.
To corroborate his point, Sazo said the BJP took six Cabinet ministers, including Deputy Chief Minister, while Rio-led Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) got only four, adding Rio appears to have already been squeezed hard by the BJP.
He claimed even Lok Sabha MP seat was also assured to the BJP, besides 40% posts in the Chief Minister’s Office to them (BJP).
“Going by the trend, it is clear he will be a remote-controlled Chief Minister,” a local news agency quoted Sazo as saying.
The former Speaker also described as “extra-constitutional” the manner in which the first time open-air swearing-in ceremony for the new NDPP-BJP Government headed by Rio was organized at Kohima local ground on Thursday.
Nowhere in the history of the swearing-in ceremony of any governments had there been any other activities and programmes other than displaying the “National Anthem” two times – when the Governor arrives and when the swearing-in ceremony is over, he said.
But songs and Chief Minister’s speech were among others that were displayed during the swearing-in ceremony, Sazo added.
