Nagaland Health & Family Welfare Minister S Pangnyu Phom, accompanied by state health officials, called on Union Health & Family Welfare Minister J P Nadda, Union Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare Anupriya Patel and Union Minister of State for AYUSH Shripad Naik in New Delhi on Friday.

According to a government release, Phom expressed his gratitude to the Union Ministers for their constant support to the State in improving the healthcare delivery system.

He also appraised the ministers about the progress made by the State in implementing various centrally-sponsored schemes.

He further urged them to extend support for priority projects in the State, which include running Nagaland Medical College in Kohima as a central institute like North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences (NEIGRIHMS) or Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Manipur, improving infrastructure facilities in district hospitals in Tuensang and Longleng and setting up a new medical college in eastern Nagaland, AYUSH hospitals in all the districts, accident and trauma centres in all district hospitals and a Regional Medicinal & Aromatic Plants Research Centre in the State.

The central ministers, it is learnt, assured the delegation led by Phom to extend all possible help to complete the ongoing projects in the State, besides considering the new projects proposed by the State Government for improving the health sector in the State.

The delegation also extended invitation to the central minsters to visit Nagaland and see personally the progress made by the State in implementing the centrally-sponsored schemes and projects.
