Acharya’s letters were addressed to the Managing Directors and CEO’s of Nagaland Rural Bank, Nagaland State Co-operative Bank Ltd, UCO Bank, Central Bank of India and United Bank of India, reports Morung express.

In his letters, the Governor noted that there were hardly any branches in other districts of the State apart from Kohima and Dimapur. “People in rural areas are unaware of the banking facilities and schemes provided by the Government through banks, he added.

Acharya also had a meeting with 20 Bank representatives on February 9, 2018 at Raj Bhavan Kohima regarding the same. However, only these five banks have so far taken up the proposal of the Governor with their head offices to open branches in the other districts of Nagaland.
