In the aftermath of the disastrous show at the 13th Nagaland Legislative Assembly (NLA) elections where the Congress failed to win even a single seat, a shattered Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie tendered his resignation on Saturday citing ‘moral grounds’.
While the NPCC media cell denied reports of Therie’s resignation, Therie himself confirmed to a section of the media about his decision to step down from the NPCC chief’s post owning moral responsibility for the debacle.

The veteran Congressman said he always stood for a secular alternative which now seems a distant dream with the party not even having its presence in the Assembly.
Therie further added that his decision is final and he will abide by it and will not succumb to any pressure to come back to the party-fold.
Therie had assumed charge as the NPCC president in May 2015 after the resignation of SI Jamir on grounds of ‘failing health.’
