Nagaland CM TR Zeliang and BJP president Amit Shah seal NPF-BJP poll deal

BJP president Amit Shah and Nagaland chief minister TR Zeliang sealed NPF-BJP poll deal on Thursday in New Delhi.

Nagaland CM TR Zeliang on Friday evening disclosed that the BJP and NPF have agreed to work out modalities for seat sharing for coming Nagaland Assembly election and select the team from the respective party to seal the deal.

In his social media post, Zeliang said in pursuance of NPF resolution to continue alliance with the BJP, he met BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi Thursday evening and both agreed to continue the NPF-BJP alliance for growth and development .

Describing the meeting with Shah as very fruitful, the CM expressed gratitude to the BJP president for taking out the time to meet for a healthy deliberation.

“Our bond and relationship will grow stronger and better in the coming days. This will result in a progressive and much developed Nagaland State.,” he tweeted.

Zeliang also exuded confidence that if at all the State elections do take place, the alliance of NPF-BJP, along with the other DAN partners, will sweep the upcoming polls.

He was optimistic that everything will be amicably settled at the earliest and the alliance will prosper without any hitch.

“With the support and cooperation of the public, we will again form the next government, a very stable government, and the instability which rocked the 12th Nagaland Legislative Assembly will be a thing of the past. Development and progress of the State and Solution to the Naga Political Issue will be our top priority,” Zeliang added.

The ruling NPF reviewed its earlier decision and decided to resume its ties with the BJP and also go to the February 27 assembly polls in Nagaland with T R Zeliang as its chief ministerial candidate.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Central Executive Council (CEC) of the NPF held on January 23.

The NPF had severed ties with the BJP on July 18 last year but its central office-bearers had on January 15 referred the matter to the CEC.

The BJP had been in alliance of the NPF since 2003.
