The Mon International Trade Fair and Expo got underway at the Local Ground at Mon in Nagaland on Monday under the theme, ‘Exploring new market opportunities and expanding sales network.’

Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio while inaugurating the fair said that Mon is one of the most strategic districts of Nagaland bordering Assam, Arunachal Pradesh and Myanmar.

Addressing the inaugural function as guest of honour Rio also said that the trade fair and expo will help the entrepreneurs of the district to have opportunities which will help in building partnerships and access networks, reports The Morung Express.

Rio further asserted that the Strate has no shortage of natural resources, provided extensive exploration is done, adding that the State also hold rich promises for export of crops like coffee, cardamom, peppers and spices.

He also said that the State Government is making all efforts to promote growth of trade and business.

Rio further encouraged people to adopt a banking culture and start getting bank loans from for farming and business.

The expo is being organized by the Mon district administration in collaboration with Nagaland Handloom& Handicraft Promotion Council (NHHPC) which will continue till January 17.
