Nagaland CEO (Chief Electoral Officer) Abhijit Sinha on Monday issued a strong warning that strong action will be taken against those village councils that had passed resolutions in support of some candidates.
The CEO also warned those candidates being ‘favoured’ through such resolutions and said they would also be ‘held accountable’.

Sinha made it clear to all those associated with the poll process and that stern action would be taken against those violating the directives.
The CEO further said intimation in this regard had been conveyed to all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs).
He said village councils are interfering with right of individuals to freely exercise their franchise by taking such decisions.

Sinha further warned that action would be initiated against anyone obstructing voters to exercise right to vote independently.
About the Election Commission of India’s (ECI) assurance to issue directives to DEOs and ROs to ensure safety of voters and property, Sinha said legal action would be initiated based on evidence.
About the measures taken by ECI, Sinha said arrangements had been made for webcasting and videography in all vulnerable polling stations, besides strengthening their security with deployment of additional forces.
The CEO further informed that police would guide the central security forces and decide the course of action as the latter would be at the disposal of SPs and local police officials.
