The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has rescheduled the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) Examinations 2018.
Although the NBSE notification issued on Saturday did not cite any specific reason behind the change in schedule, it is in all probability done because of the ensuing Nagaland Assembly elections.
Modifying its earlier circular issued on December 16, 2017, the NBSE on January 20 notified that the Class X examination will now begin from March 8 instead of March 5.
Similarly, the Class XII final and Class XI promotion examination will start from March 9.
Nagaland goes to polls on February 27 along with Meghalaya. Polling in the other north-eastern state of Tripura will be held on February 18 next.
Counting in all the three poll-bound north-eastern states will be done on March 3 next, while the entire process of forming government is expected to be completed by March 5.
The notification of the rescheduled dates of the board examinations also stated that the examination routine will not be altered in the event of any unexpected holiday.
“However, in case of cancellation or postponement of the date(s) of examination, it shall be notified through the media,” it added.
