The Nagaland unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday has filed a complaint with Election Commission of India (ECI) against Odisha Governor S C Jamir for indulging in election campaigning in his home state.
In a petition addressed to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha, the state unit of the BJP alleged that Jamir has been camping in Mokokchung town and campaigning for particular candidates of the Congress and Nagaland People’s Front (NPF).

“The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Nagaland strongly protests his involvement in the electioneering process in Nagaland as he is supposed to maintain neutrality as per the Constitution of India,” the petition read.
“The Governor should uphold the integrity and respect of the Governor office for larger interest of India. Besides, election modal codes are already violated by Dr S C Jamir which is threatening the Indian democracy as well as protocol as head of the state,” the petition further added.
The Nagaland unit of the BJP has demanded immediate resignation of the Odisha Governor.

The party has also appealed to the President of India, Ram Nath Kovind to take action against him for ‘committing constitutional impropriety and dereliction of duty’.
