In view of the publication of the final draft National Register of Citizens (NRC) in Assam on July 30, 2018, the Deputy Commissioner of Wokha district, Dr Manazir Jeelani Samoon on Monday issued an advisory to take preventive measures against possible influx of illegal immigrants into the district of Nagaland.

Issuing an advisory, Wokha Deputy Commissioner Samoon  said all entry points/check gates manned by police should be strengthened to thwart any influx of illegal immigrants and mobile patrolling in venerable locations should be activated in the respective jurisdictions.

The advisory also said non-locals entering the district should not be allowed without valid passes issued by the district administration and any unusual influx of outsiders without valid pass should be promptly brought to the knowledge of the district administration and the police.

It also asked all the village/town/municipal authorities to take measures to strictly monitor influx of people from outside the State in violation of the existing rules and norms.

The antecedents of any new tenant should be properly checked and verified by the district administration and police.

The advisory further said the district administration and police will strictly monitor the regulation of inner-line permit, especially along the border areas of Ralan and Bhandari.
