In a shocking incident, a 30-year-old woman was arrested by police on Monday in North Guwahati on the city outskirts on charges of killing her three-day old new-born son.
The woman identified as Rita Das was arrested after the police discovered the body of the new-born baby, wrapped in plastic and hidden in a bag in her house at Kating Pahar in North Guwahati.

Police raided her house based on a complaint given by the neighbours’ of the woman.
The motivation behind the incident remains unclear. Police said they are interrogating the woman to ascertain the reason behind committing the heinous crime.
