The main opposition party in Mizoram, the Mizo National Front (MNF) on Thursday launched its election campaing trial for the ensuing Assembly polls in the State.
MNF supremo Zoramthanga kicked off the campaign at a function held at Suanpuilawn community hall in Chalfilh constituency of Aizawl.
The party is trying to field sitting Congress legislator Lalrinliana Sailo, who had recently deserted the national party and joined the MNF against the ruling nominee L T Hirangchal.
Kicking off the campaign trial, the MNF chief said many people from various parties have started to join MNF because they wanted a change.
“Election to heal Mizoram would be held in November. Many people, who wanted to reform the State have begun to join MNF for the betterment of the State,” he said.
Hitting out at the Congress, Zoramthanga said that it has done a grave mistake in selecting candidates.
He further said that the Congress is likely to encounter strong internal clashes after the announcement of candidates.
Zormthanga, however, denied any differences in his party while selecting candidates.
The former Chief Minister also lashed out at the Congress Government alleging slow pace in development in the State.
Sailo, who was also present during the campaign trail exuded confidence that the party would come to power after the Assembly elections.
He also urged the party workers to support MNF’s endeavour to uplift the State to a better position.
