Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga called on union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in New Delhi on Friday and asked her to immediately release fund for executing development projects in the Northeast.

Official sources informed the CM thanked Sitharaman for rolling out the new system to facilitate quick vetting of file for external aided projects.

He asked Sitharaman to expedite the release of a non-lapsable central pool of resources (NLCPR) fund to DoNER ministry and North Eastern Council (NEC) during the current fiscal year.

Zoramthanga also asked Sitharaman to take steps to ensure that direct transfer of fund under CRF (state roads) fund is possible.

Zoramthanga, who is currently in New Delhi, also called on Jal Shakti minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat on Friday.

Zoramthanga urged Singh to provide additional fund for functional household tap connection in Mizoram.

He also informed Singh that Mizoram receives sufficient rainfall and that it has the potential for evolving better rainwater harvesting system.

Zoramthanga was accompanied by planning board vice chairman H Rammawi, state chief secretary Lalnunmawia Chuaungo and other officials.
